Simple Recipes is an app offering simple graphic recipes for both cooking learners and creators. This was a project assigned in my grad studio course, the challenge was using necessary visual language to communicate massive text information in order to optimize user experience. As a cooking lover I have never enjoyed long text introduction, especially when it’s not in my first language. Figured this is a common issue for many people, I picked this to be my topic of design project.
By designing icons and visualizing cooking process, I tried to find a method that can efficiently show important information of the recipe and can be simply used during cooking. I also provided a way for recipe creators to easily write and share their recipes. I explored and practiced at what level visual language can be used independently as a better communication tool, and how to set graphic information during interactive process to optimize user experience.
